Moving to a new space: 7 tried and true tips to help you while you pack!
As I'm preparing to move to a new place, I'm looking for ways to pass the time while I pack. Packing can be a tedious task, but with a little bit of creativity, it can be a bit more enjoyable. Here are seven tips that have been helping me:
Make a packing playlist: I've been creating a playlist of my favorite songs to listen to while I work. It's been a fun way to stay motivated and make the time fly by. Do you have any recent favorites you’d like to share?
Pack a box of essentials: I've set aside a box of items that I'll need right away when I arrive at my new place. This includes things like toiletries, a change of clothes, and any medications I take. It also includes a few naughty items that I definitely have to keep away from prying eyes.
Take breaks: It's important to take breaks while packing, especially since it can be overwhelming at times. I try to step away from the boxes for a few minutes every now and then, stretch my legs, and grab a snack or a drink. I have spent time doing a few other things but you’ll just have to use your imagination to figure out what they are.
Get organized: To make the unpacking process easier, I've been using labels and markers to clearly label each box with its contents and the room it needs to go in. This way, I'll know exactly where everything goes when I get to my new place. Not that there will be a plethora of places for things to go, but I love being an organized girly!
Enlist some help: If you have friends or family members who are able to help you pack, take them up on their offer. Not only will it make the packing process go faster, but it can also be a fun bonding experience. I have had a lot of help from friends and it’s been a life saver!
Purge as you go: While I'm packing, I'm trying to get rid of things that I no longer need or use. This not only lightens the load, but it also helps me to declutter my space. I have way more lingerie than I think I do, and I’ve set aside some pieces to donate. Hopefully you’ll be replacing them for me.
Start packing early: I've found that starting the packing process early helps to alleviate stress and allows me to pack at a more leisurely pace. I couldn’t do this in only a day or two. I’ve been packing basically since New Year’s Day.
